How To Experience Bliss and Happiness Everyday
Bliss is one step beyond happiness. It’s that breathtaking moment once you have exceeded that state of being extremely happy. So how do you have these breathtaking moments every single day?
Now I want you to stop and think about those moments when you actually experienced having your breath being taken away. It could be that moment when you climbed a mountain, reached the top, and witnessed all that beauty around and beneath you. It could be the moment when you watched a child being born, seeing how the miracle of life is made real right in front of your eyes.
Yes, you can have those every single day, and you don’t even need to climb mountains or deliver babies. You can actually create those moments.
Where the Bliss is Coming From
Let’s look at that first breathtaking moment piece by piece. What happened that caused you to go, “Wow”?
It wasn’t the mountain that made you feel that way. It wasn’t the climb, even. It was not the earth, the air, the wind, or the sun that made you feel that way. A mountain range does not make you feel anything, and a lot of you may interject and say, “Yes it does, it’s majestic and it’s beautiful!” But if you start to understand that it’s actually not that at all, then you would finally realize that it wasn’t anything outside of you that made you feel that high level of awe.
When you looked at that precise moment, with you standing on top of that mountain, everything was perfect. It was just perfect.
So what are we talking about here? Was it perfection that took your breath away? Not at all. This is not about striving for perfection.
This is about 100% acceptance.
When you were looking at that mountain range, you were happy about how everything is. You didn’t look at that mountain range and point out that some of the peaks were too pointed, or that there were just too many of them. You accepted the mountain range as it was.
If a rainbow took your breath away, you didn’t stand there and go, “If only it were 2 feet more to the left.”
If the ocean took your breath away, you didn’t wonder about how it didn’t seem blue enough.
It was 100% pure acceptance. It was bliss. And it wasn’t the mountain range, the rainbow, or the ocean. It was just you. You found perfection in the middle of an imperfect world.
Experiencing Bliss Everyday
So how do you do this and make this happen every day?
The opposite of acceptance is resistance. And that’s what you need to get rid of to find perfection in this imperfect world.
Resistance is not accepting what is. Acceptance is loving what is.
How easy is it for us to want things to be different? We do this unconsciously.
I should be thinner.
I should be wealthier.
I should be happier.
My wife should be this. My kids should be like that.
No bliss there at all. You will never experience bliss if you think things should be different all the time. This is an internal stress that you deal with. It is an internal battle that takes you further away from bliss.
Practice. Look at anything and start seeing the perfection in there, instead of the imperfection. Start thinking about how everything is actually the way that it is. Stop thinking about your need for control and start accepting that things are how they are because that’s how they should be.
Don’t even say that nothing is perfect, because that’s resistance. Just think about how everything is as it is, and there is no need for you to wish for all of that to change.
And that is how you find bliss every single day.
